With the warmer weather approaching, it’s great to have on hand a list of outdoor summer activities for the kids to swap their screens for. Being huge fans of outdoor play, we’re sharing our list of top outdoor summer activities for kids with you today.
7 Awesome Outdoor Summer Activities for Kids
Here’s our list of our top 7 outdoor activities for the kids this summer:
1.Water gun painting – add a few drops of food colouring or a little bit of runny paint to the water inside the water gun. Kids can paint cardboard boxes, fences and even each other with this fun activity. Just remember to rinse out the water guns when finished to avoid it becoming clogged with paint.
2.Slip n slide – always popular with the kids, a slippery slide out on the backyard provides hours of fun and is great for playing in at the end of a hot summer’s day.
3.Picnic at the park – ever noticed how food tastes so much better when you are out and about? Pack up a picnic and take a trip to the local park or beach. Bring along some toys such as the fun card game Kiwi Garden Treasure Hunt to look for exciting flora and fauna.
4.Get gardening – give them a potted container or a small area of garden to care for and introduce a few edibles for them to plant and look after until harvest time. Fast growing vegetables such as radishes and tomatoes, plus some strawberries would make great first plant choices.
5.Ice digging – fill plastic containers with water and some different plastic toys then freeze overnight. The next day your little archaeologists can spend time chipping the ice off to discover what’s inside. You can colour the water with food colouring to make things even more exciting, or you can buy Bath Drops
6.Water play – always a favourite with younger kids, provide a large container, sink or tub with water inside. Have a range of water toys such as buckets, boats, bowls, cups and spoons to play with. Remember to always supervise children around water.
7.Biking – even the littlest kids can ride a bike or a scooter in the back garden or at a park. Older kids would enjoy heading out to ride at local BMX or mountain bike parks. It’s a great activity the whole family can participate in.
