We share and discuss the latest and most popular educational toys for kids, helping you choose
the best toys for your special little ones.
Educational toys have been specifically designed to develop learning and skill development in kids.
These toys usually have a targeted focus on specific skills or learning areas, enabling the child to learn
through play.
Educational toys help:
∙Encourage creativity, innovative thinking and imagination
∙Develop thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
∙Promote specific fine motor, social, gross motor and cognitive skills
Having sold toys for many years, we’ve seen the rise in both manufacture of and demand for
educational toys. Today we’ll share a few of our latest favourites with you.

We find there is a growing demand for toys which promote learning specific skills. Our current
favourites are:
∙Felt boards – felt boards are a traditional toy which has been modernised, which encourages
storytelling, imagination and role play. With no mess, felt boards make great quiet time or
travelling toys. Explore our range of Felt Creations boards.
∙Puzzles – we find that kids love playing with all puzzles, from wooden chunky puzzles
through to large floor puzzles, and 3D puzzles! Puzzles help a child to develop their fine
motor and problem-solving skills through repetition. Check out our Glow in the Dark Dino
Floor Puzzle!
∙STEM activities – covering science, technology, engineering and maths, STEM activities are
hands on and interactive. Great for engaging older kids, we find they love learning about
cause and effect, discovering how things work and creating something related to real life. We
love the Fingerprint Kit and the Steam Powered Earth Science Kit.
∙Active social games – as kids age, they move through different stages of play, from solitary to
parallel and then cooperative play. Having available games which help develop social skills
such as cooperation, turn taking and listening to others is important. Two of our favourites are
Feed the Woozle and Criss Cross.
∙Educational books – okay, so they’re not ‘toys’ but we find that kids books which have been
written for more than just entertainment, are always popular. Whether the book tells an
imaginary story to explain social skills, or is a nonfiction book on space, kids love books. We
have a lovely collection of board books for younger kids too.
